Game Review
Manchester United secured a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in their Premier League clash at Old Trafford, a result that aligns with pre-match expectations given United's recent form. The home side, who made two changes to their lineup with Diogo Dalot and Amad Diallo coming in for Noussair Mazraoui and Benjamin Šeško, dominated the proceedings, particularly in the second half. The match began with both teams testing each other's defenses, but it was Manchester United who broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute through Casemiro (GAP +3.7%), who capitalized on a well-placed cross to head the ball past Emiliano Martinez (GAP +2.9%). Aston Villa responded in the 64th minute when Ross Barkley (GAP -2.7%) found the back of the net, leveling the score and briefly shifting momentum. However, United regained control just seven minutes later when Matheus Cunha (GAP +2.2%) scored, restoring their lead. The introduction of Benjamin Šeško, who replaced an unavailable player due to international duty, proved pivotal as he sealed the victory with a goal in the 81st minute, showcasing his clinical finishing ability. Aston Villa, who made four changes to their starting lineup, including the inclusion of Ross Barkley and Lucas Digne, struggled to maintain consistency. The absence of key players like Youri Tielemans and John McGinn due to injuries was evident, impacting their midfield stability. The result sees Manchester United continue their strong run, maintaining their position in the upper echelons of the Premier League table. For Aston Villa, the defeat highlights the challenges they face in climbing the standings, particularly with their current injury woes. Post-match, the home team manager praised his squad's resilience and tactical execution, while Aston Villa's head coach acknowledged the need for improvement and adaptation as they look to bounce back in their next fixture.

What is GAP?
What is Plus Minus Goals (G±)?
Plus Minus Goals (G±) is the average goal difference per game while the player was on the pitch. A value above 0 indicates that the team rather wins, a value below 0 means his team concedes more goals than they score when the player is on the pitch. As an example, if the player's team is winning 3:1 the goal difference is +2, if the player's team is loosing 0:1, the goal difference is -1. It is a pure metric which is barely adjusted for circumstances to purely show the goal difference.
What is GAP?
GAP (Game Advantage Percentage) shows the percentage gap between a player and the average league player. It answers the question: How much does a player improve or worsen a team's performance? It is based on high level game data with a focus on the impact on the goal difference (G±) from the last 50 games of a player. Besides that, GAP goes further and considers game context by involving data from the player and all other players who are at the same time on the pitch, no matter if teammates or opponents. Football GAP - the individual metric for team players.
